USAID's Bureau for Europe and Eurasia presents the 2005 NGO Sustainability Index* for Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia. The report is a study of the strength and viability of the NGO sectors in each country in the region. The 2005 Index measures seven dimensions deemed critical to NGO sustainability – legal environment, organizational capacity, financial viability, advocacy, service provision, infrastructure and public image.

The Central Asia NGO Network* provides information about the NGO community in the region. Search* through the Network’s database.

The NGO Directory* offers a list of environmental NGOs in Central Asia.

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia conducted a survey of NGOs in five Central Asian Republics to determine the status of environmental NGOs, their needs, capacity and mechanisms for cooperating with them. Read the report on Environmental NGOs in Central Asia.* [PDF]
