Community-Driven Development

Community-driven development (CDD) is an approach that gives community groups control over decision making on the use of block grant resources for local development. Normally, community groups are organized to plan, implement, and manage the process.

In 2006, ADB reviewed its portfolio on projects with CDD elements. The report A Review of Community-Driven Development and Its Application to the Asian Development Bank [ PDF: 755kb | 100 pages ] resulted in the launching of a special initiative on CDD through a regional technical assistance [ PDF: 114kb | 12 pages ].
