About the Asia Pacific PovNet
|
About the Asia Poverty Network (AsiaPovNet)AsiaPovNet is a website on operational and knowledge work on poverty and inclusive growth in the Asia-Pacific region. The website was launched in December 2009 under ADB's Poverty Network project. While the website is currently hosted in ADB, it will be transferred to a regional partner institution in due time. The website compiles papers and project descriptions of over 50 think tank institutions in Asia-Pacific as well as the works of various international and bilateral donors. It features:
The website is also the basis for the monthly online Asia Poverty Forum Newsletter (AsiaPovNews), which will be distributed free of charge to anyone who wants to subscribe. The first issue of the newsletter, coming out in January, will feature the recently held Hanoi conference on the social and environmental impact of the global recession on the poor and vulnerable in Asia and the Pacific. This conference also served as the 3rd China-ASEAN Forum on Social Development and Poverty Reduction, and the 4th ASEAN+3 High-Level Seminar on Poverty Reduction. The website and the newsletter will be updated monthly. We welcome your contributions; you may send them to asiapovnet@adb.org. Please include the abstract, URL (if paper is available online), and author institution. Information posted on the website and referred to in the newsletter will be original works endorsed by institutions and governments, and screened by a peer review team. Individual research work will not be accepted. The AsiaPovNet and the AsiaPovNews differ from ADB's Poverty website and Poverty Matters Newsletter as the latter comprise only ADB knowledge and operational work on poverty and inclusive growth. The AsiaPovNet however will mainly feature work done in the region by governments, national and regional think tank institutions, and by donors. The website links to contents and information written by those partner organizations. We hope you will actively use the opportunity for regional exchange on poverty reduction and inclusive growth. It shall help in our common efforts in improving the lives of the low income people in Asia and the Pacific. |
