Asia's policy makers must take decisive steps to generate high quality, productive jobs if the region is to sustain and broaden the benefits of its economic expansion of the past two decades.
A successful transition from public to private sector-led growth, domestic-led growth of consumption and investments in place of export-led growth, shifts to green jobs and green enterprises, and deeper Asian regional integration requires mainstreaming gender equality considerations.
The Asia-Pacific MDG Report 2010/11, launched at the World Poverty Summit in New York, is the fifth in the series published by ESCAP, ADB and UNDP on MDG achievement. It is a resource which policy makers, development practitioners and other stakeholders should find useful in addressing the remaining challenges in achieving the MDGs. |
