Warr
Peter Warr
is the John Crawford Professor of Agricultural Economics and founding Director
of the Poverty Research Centre at the Australian National University. He holds
a PHD in Economics from Stanford University, and has published extensively on
economic issues in Southeast Asia, especially Thailand. His books include The
Thai Economy in Transition (Cambridge University Press, 1993) and Thailand's Macroeconomic
Miracle: Stable Adjustment and Sustained Growth, 1970 to 1990 (World Bank and
Oxford University Press, 1996). His recent research has included studies of the
Determinants of Poverty Reduction in Thailand, using a General Equilibrium Framework,
and studies of the Relationship between Poverty Reduction and the Sectoral Composition
of Economic Growth in India, Taipei,China and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Indonesia,
the Philippines and Malaysia).
