ADB's MDG Initiatives
Supporting partner countries in achieving targets

ADB's Long-Term Strategic Framework (LTSF 2001-2015) and Medium Term Strategy II (MTS 2006-2009) is well aligned with MDGs as international strategic development objective.

ADB's approach is to support its partner countries in achieving the MDG targets as set in their national MDG, poverty reduction, and development strategies. In addition, ADB promotes regional cooperation and partnerships on the MDGs.

ADB has taken a number of steps in support of the MDGs:

Did you know? Supporting the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific Region, an ADB technical assistance project, aimed to raise awareness, initiate policy, investment and capacity building actions at the developing member country (DMC) level, particularly in DMCs that are at risk of not meeting the MDG targets. The main outputs of the TA were a major regional MDG report to be prepared by ADB, ESCAP, and UNDP; two subsequent MDG reports (MDG report II and III); background and supporting technical papers; and dissemination of these reports and papers to appropriate audiences in DMCs to create greater awareness and initiate action from the governments and all stakeholders for MDG attainment.
