The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide $60 million from its Asian Development Fund to support agricultural development in Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR):
This project will regenerate, replace, and update underdeveloped or existing irrigation schemes in Savannakhet and Saravane provinces, which are home to 20% of Lao PDR’s population and account for a third of rice produced in the country. Household incomes and food security should improve with the project, which will be completed in December 2021.
Amount:
$60 million from the concessional Asian Development Fund.
