The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the following additional financing and technical assistance grant:
The Project aims to provide a more efficient and transparent delivery of social insurance and social welfare, beyond the successful targeted food stamp program, through better policy, benefit targeting, capacity development for central and local government officials, and improved information technology processes. The grant component will provide analytical inputs into the revision of the social protection strategy and training for the Ministry of Population Development and Social Protection, the executing agency of the project. ADB approved the original financial package of $12 million in 2008, which was designed to help vulnerable and poor households during the 2008 food crisis.
$20 million from the Asian Development Fund and $0.5 million from the Technical Assistance Special Fund
