The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a project loan and a technical assistance for Anhui Huainan Urban Water Systems Integrated Rehabilitation Project.


The project will improve the urban water systems in Huainan municipality, serving 962,000 residents, including 65,000 poor people. It will help the municipality improve wastewater collection, rehabilitate and build urban water channels and flood control systems, and reduce pollution in its five lakes. The technical assistance will be used to help prepare an urban flood and waterlogging management master plan for the municipality and develop a flood forecasting and warning system.


$150 million on from ADB's Ordinary Capital Resources and $500,000 from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund under the Water Financing Partnership Facility administered by ADB.
