Description

The principal objective of the Project is to complete rehabilitation of the road between Bishkek, the capital in the north of the country, and Osh, the second largest city in the south. The technical assistance will ascertain the technical viability, economic feasibility, and environmental and social soundness for rehabilitating the road. Assistance in engineering design and contract documentation may also be provided. This will be the third phase of the Bank's assistance for the rehabilitation of the Bishkek-Osh road. In addition, the TA will review the ongoing transport sector policy reform and institutional strengthening initiatives undertaken by the Government and will develop a new policy agenda to provide the basis for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the sector.
