The objectives of the Project will be to develop efficient utilization of agricultural waste products (such as excrement, crop straw and other agriculture residue, and wood chips) for sustainable rural development including: production of biogas for village/household use, biomass gas, and increased agriculture. Efficient use of agricultural waste products will reduce the use of firewood and coal and the use of chemical fertilizers, improve air quality, improve the micro-nutrients in the soil profile of degraded farm land, and lower household costs. The Project would reduce poverty, reduce the destruction of forests, improve air quality through reduction in the use of coal and open burning of crop residue, and improve the utilization of limited and degraded farm land. The Project area will be caaried out in the provinces of Jiangxi, Hubei, Henan and Shanxi.
