Environmental Aspects This supplementary financing was for meeting the cost overrun due to currency fluctuation and price increases. There is no (i) physical change within the original scope and/or design, or modified or incremental activities or components, and (ii) change in environment and social safeguards requirements. Therefore, under the supplementary financing, the environmental aspects has remained unchanged from the Loan 2046-IND: Urban Water Supply and Environmental Improvement in Madhya Pradesh.
Involuntary Resettlement This supplementary financing was for meeting the cost overrun due to currency fluctuation and price increases. There is no (i) physical change within the original scope and/or design, or modified or incremental activities or components, and (ii) change in environment and social safeguards requirements. Therefore, under the supplementary financing, the social aspects has remained unchanged from the Loan 2046-IND: Urban Water Supply and Environmental Improvement in Madhya Pradesh.
Indigenous Peoples This supplementary financing is for meeting the cost overrun due to currency fluctuation and price increases. There is no (i) physical change within the original scope and/or design, or modified or incremental activities or components, and (ii) change in environment and social safeguards requirements. Therefore, under the supplementary financing, the social aspects will remain unchanged from the Loan 2046-IND: Urban Water Supply and Environmental Improvement in Madhya Pradesh.
Stakeholder Communication, Participation, and Consultation
During Project Design This supplementary financing was for meeting the cost overrun due to currency fluctuation and price increases. There is no (i) physical change within the original scope and/or design, or modified or incremental activities or components, and (ii) change in environment and social safeguards requirements. Extensive consultations were carried out duirng project formulation in 2003.
During Project Implementation As a part of the scope of the Project under original loan, an awareness campaign through various media was undertaken to make the public aware of the short-term inconveniences and long-term benefits of the Project to gain the full support of the beneficiaries. Beneficiaries were also made aware of preventive care to avoid environmental health-related hazards and of their responsibilities to avoid wasting water, including issues such as water rates, user charges, property tax reform, etc. for achieving the goals of the Project. In addition, the campaign provided feedback to the PMU to adjust the work program based on the impact of the campaign and concerns raised by the beneficiaries.

Procurement There are approximately 30 contract packages which were not able to be financed under Loan 2046-IND.
