Summary

The PPTA for the Periodic Financing Request (PFR) 2 will prepare a bulk water supply master plan and prepare a feasibility study for the second tranche investment, including bulk water supply to Metro Bandung and upper watershed improvement, which will conserve the water and land resources by introducing community-demand development agriculture and agro forestry activities in order to reduce soil erosion and improve the bulk water supply in Bandung and its surrounding areas.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The proposed tranche PFR2 supports the national and sector priorities of the Government of Indonesia. It is also included in the ADB's Country Operations Business Plan for Indonesia 2014-2016.
Impact The expected impact of the project is improved andmore integrated water resources management in the Citarum River Basin.

Description of Outcome The expected outcomes are (i) improved water supply in the Bandung and its surrounding areas; (ii) reduced groundwater exploitment; (iii) reduced flood damage and risks in the project areas; and (iv) improved upper watershed management.
