Gender Equity and Mainstreaming
Description Diversify and increase value addition in India's agriculture, generate employment, raise farm and non-farm incomes, and thereby alleviate poverty. Following the priority setting to be undertaken in the ongoing Agribusiness and Commercial Agriculture Assessment, the TA will prepare (i) economically and financially viable investments in market facilities and infrastructure, and (ii) support services for agribusiness development and commercialized farming. The project will encourage private sector investment in all stages of the value chain in agriculture. States likely to be covered in the scope are Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Sikkim.

Consulting Services A team of experts, international and domestic, will be recruited through a firm with experience in preparing such projects. International expertise (about 20 person-months) will be required in agribusiness, project economics, horticulture industry, agricultural marketing, social development, and environmental analysis. Domestic specialists (about 40 person-months) will have expertise in institutional development, legal aspects, business development services, agricultural economics, horticulture development, financial analysis and management, social analysis, and environmental assessment.
