Stakeholder Communication, Participation, and Consultation
During Project Design

The consultants are working on due diligence of Khanki, Sulemanki and Trimmu Barrages and Pakpattan and Thal canals. Main project stakeholders are the households that will benefit from the improved access and more reliable irrigation water. The consultants were requested to also provide support to the New Khanki Barrage Project to be processed under tranche 2 of the MFF.

Both, formal and informal consultations, will be held with key project stakeholders during TA through field visits and a workshops.

Consultation will take place with regard to social safeguards, mainly resettlement under the TA. The interventions comprise rehabilitation and reconstruction of existing infrastructure, so that social impact should be minimal. Farmers are utilizing and benefitting and benefiting substantially from the existing infrastructure and disruption to irrigation water supply would significantly impact rural livelihoods. Farmers understand that the proposed interventions will help sustain their livelihoods.

During Project Implementation The due diligence (technical, social, environmental) of the work carries out by the consultants that assess, whether the stakeholders are consulted/participated in project preparation process.
