Status of Implementation Progress (Outputs, Activities, and Issues)

(A) Civil Works:

All 9 civil works contracts to improve about 570 km of roads were awarded between Sept 2007 and Feb 2008. All the contracts have been completed.

(B) Infrastructure Management Component:

Infrastructure Management Consultants engaged under the project have completed their services in March 2009 and have prepared several reports related to business process reengineering, human resource development and training.

Environmental Aspects The implementation of environmental management plans is being monitored by supervision consultants and Public Works Department of Uttarakhand has been submitting environmental monitoring reports

Business Opportunities
Consulting Services Consultants for construction supervision ,Infrastructure Management Component and program support consultancy have been recruited in accordance with ADB's Guidelines on the Use of Consultants and other arrangements satisfactory to ADB.
Procurement Procurement under the Project has been carried out in accordance with ADB's Guidelines for Procurement. All civil works contracts have been procured under national competitive bidding (NCB) procedures and post-qualification method.
