Afghanistan: Commercial Agriculture Development

Sovereign Project | 39370-012

Summary

The TA will help the Government design an investment project with activities all over the country, focusing in particular on: (i) strengthening business development services (BDS) providers to enhance skills throughout the agribusiness subsector, (ii) improving the access of agribusiness enterprises to BDS, (iii) expanding access to agribusiness finance, and (iv) developing institutional capacity. The Project will seek to create a flexible support service delivery mechanism driven by market demand. The Project will concentrate on horticulture and hortibusiness, and will also support interventions to improve the livestock and dairy institutional framework. Project interventions will contribute to strengthening and developing both public and private sector capacity, involvement, and investment in agribusiness. This will create a strong enabling environment for small and medium agribusiness enterprises.
