Summary

The objective of the technical assistance (TA) is to assist the Government of Fiji in the development of a resource-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally-sustainable power sector to promote broad-based economic growth. The TA will assist the Government and the Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) in developing a least cost and diversified investment plan to meet electricity demand growth.

Consulting Services A team of consultants will be engaged by ADB to provide 19 person-months of international and 7 person-months of domestic consulting services over a 7-month period commencing in March 2006 with expected completion in September 2006. The team will be composed of (i) a project coordinator and procurement specialist (international, 3 person-months), (ii) a power system planner (international, 3 person-months), (iii) a financial analyst (international, 3 person-months), (iv) an economic analyst (international, 2 person-months), (v) environmental assessment specialists (international, 3 person-months; domestic, 3 person-months), (vi) a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) specialist (international, 1 person-month), (vii) climate change adaptation analysts (international, 1 person-month; domestic, 1person-month), and (viii) stakeholder participation, resettlement, and social analyst (international, 3 person-months; domestic, 3 person-months).
