Regional: Sustainable Urban Development in Asia

Sovereign Project | 41101-012

Summary

The objective of the project is to initiate the USI and develop implementing mechanisms. The project will constitute the first phase and will undertake preparatory activities for, and initial implementation activities of the USI in partnership with the operations departments (ODs) the Regional Departments and the Private Sector Operations Department in selected cases. Some of these projects can be outside the formal list of projects prepared during the normal programming exercise by the ODs. The project will also design mechanisms to manage and support established forms of collaboration such as the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) and the Asian Training and Research Initiative for Urban Managements (ATRIUM) and to extend the scope and depth of such collaboration. Depending on the experience of the Phase I activities, and demands from the clients, a second phase of this RETA will be prepared to expand this support to cover more countries and more projects.
