Regional: Expanding the Implementation of the Energy Efficiency Initiative in Developing Member Countries

Sovereign Project | 41279-012

Summary

Building on the success of earlier technical assistance under the Energy Efficiency Initiative, the campaign to radically scale up clean energy investments needs to be sustained. The urgency for sustained RETA support is characterized by three fundamental needs: (i) ADB will have to assess the EE market potential in smaller DMCs, especially those eligible for ADF (ii) operational departments will continue to require technical support from consulting and secretariat support for pre project preparation activities in six priority DMCs and (iii) regional strategies involving knowledge sharing and institutional capacities relating to the tracking and monitoring of ADB's clean energy investments will also have to be supported through 2008 2010.

The Public Communications Policy (PCP) recognizes that transparency and accountability are essential to development effectiveness. It establishes the disclosure requirements for documents and information ADB produces or requires to be produced.

The Accountability Mechanism provides a forum where people adversely affected by ADB-assisted projects can voice and seek solutions to their problems and report alleged noncompliance of ADB's operational policies and procedures.
