Summary

The RETA aims to continue ADB's support for the Boao Forum for Asia in further strengthening regional policy dialogue and building public and private partnerships to enable the developing member countries (DMCs) of ADB to maximize regional cooperation and integration opportunities as well as adequately respond to regional cooperation and integration challenges. The RETA will support two sponsored sessions on regional economic integration in the BFA Annual Conferences (April 2008 and April 2009), the publication of the BFA Annual Reports (April 2008 and April 2009), and training programs on topics to be chosen by Asian Export and Import Banks and Export Credit Agencies of ADB's DMCs.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy
Impact The expected impact of the TA are (i) strengthened partnership of Asian economies and Asian regional institutions in support of RCI and (ii) improved private and public partnerships.
Project Outcome
Description of Outcome There are two main components of this technical assistance: (i) support for the 2008 and 2009 BFA Annual Conferences and (ii) support for capacity building programs of Asian Export Import Banks (EXIMs) and Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) of ADB's DMCs. The areas for support during the BFA Annual Conferences will include sponsorship of a session on pre agreed topics themes by ADB and BFA, and joint publications of the BFA Annual Reports. The design and delivery of the training programs will be done by OCO in consultation with Asian EXIMS and ECAs.

Description of Project Outputs The expected outputs are: Two sponsored sessions on regional economic integration in the BFA Annual Conferences: April 2008 and April 2009 Two published BFA Annual Reports: April 2008 and April 2009 and Training programs on the topics chosen by the EXIMS and ECAs to be held in Boao City, back to back with the BFA Annual Meeting, PRC or at the ADB headquarters in Manila, Philippines. Expected trainees are from EXIMS and ECAs of DMCs in Asia, including East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and the Pacific, if interested and as appropriate in 2008.
