Description

The Project involves the acquisition, refurbishment and operation of a 600 MW Coal Fired Thermal Power Plant located in Calaca, Batangas (Calaca Power Plant), which is owned and operated by the National Power Corporation (NPC). The power plant was offered for sale by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) through a competitive bidding process held on 16 October 2007. The Calaca Holdco Inc (subsequently renamed Emerald Energy Corporation (Emerald), a special purpose company wholly-owned by Suez Tractabel S.A. won the bid to acquire the Calaca Power Plant.
