The proposed project is intended to assist participating countries achieve minimum compliance and scope requirements of the 1993 SNA implementation and therefore, position them to take on additional issues of the 1993 System of National Accounts (SNA) Revision 1. Concurrently, implementing the 1993 SNA will improve Gross Domestic Product measures and indicators to monitor Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) achievements, particularly with reference to levels of poverty. Further, the central framework of the 1993 SNA contains detailed supply and use tables that record how supplies of goods and services originate from domestic industries and imports, and how these are allocated among intermediate or final uses, including exports. They provide a framework for checking the consistency of statistics on flows of goods and services obtained from various data sources, enabling countries to improve their statistical databases.
