Summary

The objectives of the TA are (i) to assist in developing a training program suitable for continuing on the job training for judges in the area of economic and commercial law with emphasis on the less developed regions in PRC, and (ii) to assist in updating and compilation of the judiciary rules in key areas of economic and commercial laws.

Impact Improved quality and increased consistency of the PRC judicial system, specifically in local courts located in less developed regions, in adjudication of cases relating to economic and commercial law.
Project Outcome
Description of Outcome A continuing legal training program in economic and commercial law developed under the TA for future repetition, which will carry a thematic emphasis on jurisprudence of such laws and geographic expansion to less-developed regions through training at NJC's local branches.

Description of Project Outputs

Output 1: Pilot continuing education program in economic and commercial law effectively implemented by NJC and its branches in selected provinces.

Output 2: Court-made rules are updated and jurisprudence behind the written law and court-made rules developed.

Output 3: About 800 judges are equipped with the new knowledge and skills in adjudicating economic and commercial law cases.
