The National Policy for Safe Water Supply & Sanitation (1998) is the main policy statement for the sector. Further, the Sector Development Program: Water and Sanitation Sector in Bangladesh 2005-2015 was issued in 2006 as the roadmap for sector development. Both documents emphasize the importance of sector governance and institutional development of implementing entities in parallel with capital investment.
ADB has formulated its sector strategy to support the GOB's policy and programs. The Country Partnership Strategy (2006-2010), Midterm Review for Bangladesh includes the PPTA in the 2010 pipelines for non-lending products, which has been subsequently advanced to 2009. The CPS Midterm Review includes the ensuing project in the 2011 pipeline for lending products.

Project Data Sheets (PDS) contain summary information on the project or program. Because the PDS is a work in progress, some information may not be included in its initial version but will be added as it becomes available. Information about proposed projects is tentative and indicative.
The Public Communications Policy (PCP) recognizes that transparency and accountability are essential to development effectiveness. It establishes the disclosure requirements for documents and information ADB produces or requires to be produced.
The Accountability Mechanism provides a forum where people adversely affected by ADB-assisted projects can voice and seek solutions to their problems and report alleged noncompliance of ADB's operational policies and procedures.
