Description The TA is in direct response to the GMS member governments' request for ADB assistant to review the rail links and provide advice on suitable financial and investment opportunities.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy To realize a regional rail network, completion of the missing rail links is the most urgent need. To meet this objective, the GMS countries have identified and agreed upon nine priority rail links that, when completed, would provide greater railway connectivity in the GMS.
Impact

The impact of the R-PATA will be greater railway connectivity in the GMS; the project is aligned with the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Program Strategic Framework (20122022).
