Description To prepare the Regional Power Transmission Enhancement Project. The Project aims at enhancing the power transmission capacity in order for Georgia to become an energy trading hub for the region.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy Georgian power sector has made significant reforms in the recent past. Most of the distribution and generation assets have been privatized. An independent regulator (Georgian National Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission) is established and fully functioning. The project is line with ADB's Strategy for Georgia, which focuses on upgrading and developing energy institute and enhancing regional energy trade through development of the Caucasus regional energy market. The project will contribute to Georgia becoming a renewable resource-based regional energy trade hub. It enhances and strengthens transmission capacity for electricity trade and transit with Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. It also improves the domestic transmission and dispatching operation efficiency.

Consulting Services A team of consultants will be engged using the quality- and cost -based selection method with simplified technical proposal.
