Project Outcome

Description of Outcome Well-defined direction, priorities, and institutional framework for PBG economic cooperation
Progress Toward Outcome Roadmap for Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation was prepared early 2014 which was built on earlier feasibility studies accepted by the ASEAN-PRC economic ministers in 2011. Strategy and economic cooperation area/secotors were discribed and institutional framework were designed and expained in the roadmap.

Status of Implementation Progress (Outputs, Activities, and Issues)

The TA organized the second training workshop in October 2014 with participants from ASEAN member countries and the PRC, in addition to a number of workshops and meetings were conducted in 2014.

The TA project extension from January to December 2015 was approved recently to allow the TA to complete three workshops for discussion and preparation of project pipeline with stakeholders of member countries and to formulate specific plan in establishing the secretariat.

All planned activities were completed by December 2015.

During Project Design This TA is designed at the request of the governments of PBG countries. ADB has held discussions with PBG government representatives and other stakeholders about the objective and key activities of the TA. More consultations with stakeholders will be organized during the implementation phase of the TA.

Business Opportunities

Consulting Services The TA will recruit 10 person-months of international consulting services and 40 person-months of national consulting services. The consultants will be engaged by ADB as individuals in accordance with the Guidelines on the Use of Consltants. The composition of consultants are: 1. Regional Cooperation Specialist and Team Leader (international), 2. Institutional Development and Capacity Building Specialist (international), and 3. Regional Cooperation Coordinators (national)
