Regional : Supporting the Adoption of Low-Carbon Technologies in Developing Member Countries

Sovereign Project | 49157-001

The TA will build on the capacity building support provided under the ongoing RETA 8654: Technical Assistance for Supporting the Use of Carbon Financing from New Carbon Market Mechanisms to Promote Green Growth in Asia and the Pacific . The TA will focus more on hands-on support of technology-related criteria and integrating technology aspects of the JCM methodology and the preparation of project proposals for JFJCM funding. The TA will also coordinate with Government of Japan and Joint Committee (JC) members of the JCM in participating and preparing DMCs to provide updates on the implementation of the JCM.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The proposed TA will help promote climate change mitigation and environmentally sustainable growth in ADB DMCs through supporting the use of carbon financing in line with Strategy 2020 and Midterm Review Strategy. The initial focus will be on the DMCs which have bilateral agreement for the JCM with the Government of Japan for the promotion of the JFJCM (participating DMCs) and on the DMCs which have initiated discussions with the Government of Japan for signing the JCM (preparing DMCs). This proposed TA is also in line with CPS of participating and preparing DMCs.
