Agribusiness Development Project
| Date: | September 2012 |
| Country: | |
| Subject: | |
| Document Type: | Completion Reports / Project/Program Completion Reports |
| Project Number: | 33364-013 |
Description
This completion report for the Agribusiness Development Project in Pakistan evaluates design, implementation and performance of the project, and provides an overall assessment and recommendations.
The project was designed to address constraints to development of the sector and to exploit domestic and export market opportunities for agribusiness to increase economic growth and rural employment. However, overall assessment indicates that the project was overly ambitious and recommended that a more practical design for this project for implementation purposes would have been to select two or three agribusiness commodities with strong export potential for priority consideration and to focus then on addressing key constraint areas where a reasonable chance existed to achieve quantifiable results.
