Description
The Government gives high priority to the improvement of 1,204 km A380 highway from Guzar to Dautata for completion by 2014. The highway is the main route between the northwest and southeast of Uzbekistan and serves as an increasingly important international corridor between Afghanistan (via Termez), Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan and Russian Federation. The A380 highway is designated as CAREC Corridors 2 and 6 and part of Asian Highway, Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia Corridor, and European Highways. The adjoining 84 km Kazakhstan section Aktau-Beyneu is under consideration for ADB approval in 2010. The Road Fund has estimated $1.6 billion for the A380 highway investment during 2009-2014.
