Description
The technical assistance (TA) on Improving Access to Finance Sector Development Program in Nepal aims to develop a market oriented effective microfinance sector that will improve access to finance for the poor and low income population with a special focus on enhanced outreach in hills and mountain areas. A household and financial institutions survey was conducted under the TA to determine the level of access of households to financial services. This report uses information from the survey and from field visits to households and financial institutions to develop recommendations covering policy for the microfinance sector, improved regulation and supervision of microfinance institutions (MFIs), financial and management capacity raising of MFIs, and improved access of poor households to financial services.
