Proposed Loan Program for Clean Bus Leasing
| Date: | December 2012 |
| Country: | |
| Subject: | |
| Document Type: | Reports and Recommendations of the President |
| Project Number: | 46928-014 |
Description
This report and recommendation of the president for a proposed loan program of $275 million (or CNY equivalent) to up to five financial leasing companies (FLCs) for the financing of clean buses in the People's Republic of China (PRC) describes the terms and conditions for the approval of ADB's Board of Directors.
The program’s impact will be an increase in clean bus transport services in the PRC. By financing the lease of clean buses, the program will support the expansion of a low-cost, flexible mode of public transport. Although these benefits will not be measured, the expansion of clean bus services under the program is expected to directly benefit millions of low-income commuters, improve air quality, and reduce GHG emissions.
