Description

This synthesis paper examines the major cross-cutting issues and lessons of the five studies under RETA-7543 (Sharing Knowledge on Community-Driven Development in Asia and the Pacific) to inform a broader audience on community-driven development (CDD) theory and practice. It documents the experiences of the following five CDD projects – CDD Pilot Program (People’s Republic of China), Neighborhood Upgrading and Shelter Sector Project (Indonesia), Saemaul Undong Movement (Republic of Korea), KALAHI-CIDSS Project (Philippines) and Urban Governance and Infrastructure Improvement Project (Bangladesh) – to determine the extent that CDD has contributed to service delivery and governance in the beneficiary communities.
