| Date: | April 2011 |
| Type: | Brochures and Flyers |
| Series: | In Focus |
Description
Helping countries work together to address issues that transcend borders.
Challenge
Countries in Asia and the Pacific are growing at different rates and have differing social and economic priorities. Although there has been progress in regional cooperation and integration, more is needed to better link national with regional priorities so countries may fully benefit from each others strengths and overcome mutual problems.
Strategy
ADB's long-term strategic framework (Strategy 2020) makes regional cooperation and integration (RCI) one of our five core specializations for achieving our mission to reduce poverty in Asia and the Pacific.
Response
ADB is integrating regional cooperation and integration into our operations. We support regional and subregional cooperation programs, help develop cross-border infrastructure, advance trade and investment, promote monetary and financial initiatives, encourage cooperation in regional public goods, and mobilize resources to support RCI.
