The Maldives has received loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling $268 million since joining ADB in 1978.

Current ADB operations in the Maldives encompass energy, transport, public sector management, and private sector development. ADB has committed resources to help upgrade the country’s commercial and domestic harbors, ensure reliability of power supply to the capital and outer islands, boost growth, and reduce regional economic disparities
