The ADB program in Palau has provided loans, grants and technical assistance to grow the country’s economy and improve the lives of people, particularly the poor, women, children and other vulnerable groups.

ADB has approved loans, grants, and technical assistance for Palau amounting to $73.8 million since 2003.

Palau has benefited from strong growth in the tourism sector that has driven overall economic growth however, it remains vulnerable to external economic shocks, the impacts of climate change, and other environmental and weather-related risks. ADB’s strategy in Palau is to provide support to improve public sector effectiveness, facilitate private sector development, deliver safe water and sanitation services, and improve connectivity.
