Asian Development Bank and Palau: Fact Sheet

Publication | April 2015

Updated yearly, this ADB Fact Sheet provides social and economic indicators on Palau as well as concise information on ADB's operations in the country and contact information.

After joining the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2003, Palau was classified as an ADB developing member country in December 2005, and has received four loans totaling $44.8 million and five technical assistance projects totaling $3.3 million.

Palau receives annual grant assistance under the Compact of Free Association with the United States (US) (the Compact). With its renegotiated agreement still awaiting US congressional approval, Palau is anticipating a decrement in Compact grants, and has embarked on a program of reforms to ensure long-term macroeconomic and fiscal sustainability.
