Description
This economic report on the Solomon Islands is the result of a joint project of ADB and the Australian Agency for International Development. It is part of the Bank's Pacific Islands Economic Report series, which aims to assist governments in formulating policy by analyzing a country's socioeconomic situation, key issues, and development prospects. An allied aim is to provide analytical support to aid donors in developing their assistance programs.
The book consists of seven chapters which discuss (i) economic development, 1987-1997; (ii) public finance and public enterprises; (iii) forestry; (iv) agriculture, fisheries, mining, and tourism; (v) human resource development; (vi) labor market and private sector development; and (vii) the role of foreign technical assistance.
