The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has worked closely with the Government of Sri Lanka since 1966. As of 31 December 2014, ADB has approved a total of 192 loans (both sovereign and nonsovereign) to Sri Lanka, with cumulative lending of $6.91 billion. ADB has also provided $358.00 million in grant assistance and $127.78 million in technical assistance projects. ADB assistance supports the development of energy, roads, education and training, water supply and sanitation, the finance sector, and a renewed involvement in irrigation.
