Description

Arsenic contamination has become a significant health threat in rural Cambodia, where people highly rely on groundwater for drinking. Several cases of skin diseases and cancers were confirmed as cases of arsenicosis or arsenic poisoning. An estimated 320,000 people are at risk.

This PDA supported the performance verification process of the Kanchan Arsenic Filter (KAF) as an effective, suitable, and affordable arsenic mitigation technology for Cambodia's rural areas. KAF was developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Cambodia's Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) and the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) conducted the verification process.
