To what extent and how effectively has ADB responded to the social protection needs in Asia and the Pacific since the approval of the Social Protection Strategy in 2001? This is the focus of this special evaluation study with the object of informing future ADB support to social protection in Asia and the Pacific. 

The special evaluation study will assess the relevance of ADB's Disaster and Emergency Assistance Policy, the adequacy of ADB response to disaster and disaster risks in the Asia and Pacific region, and the development of good practices for implementation of ADB operations and country programming. 

This study shows that ADB’s support has been relevant and responsive to the sector development needs of developing member countries. ADB support performed reasonably well at the macro level in easing regulatory and policy constraints. However, it was less than effective in market and institutional development, sustainability of microfinance operations, and outreach to the poor.

ONGOING EVALUATION. The special evaluation study aims to understand how ADB’s private sector operations are contributing to inclusive and environmentally sustainable growth as part of the efforts to promote private sector investments and growth, and how ADB can position itself to achieve stronger development impact, directly or indirectly.

This SES assesses ADB's support for promoting good governance in Pacific developing member countries (DMCs) from 2000 to 2010. 

This report assesses ADB's achievement in mainstreaming the MfDR Agenda within ADB, with a view to track progress, identify lessons, and make recommendations for ensuring better development effectiveness of operations in the future.

This study reviews the development effectiveness of Asian Development Fund (ADF) operations approved during ADF VIII and ADF IX (2001–2008) and reports on progress in the first 2 years of implementing ADF X (2009–2010).

This special evaluation study examines the performance of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and draw strategic lessons for the future. It covers ADBI's key knowledge products and activities.

This special evaluation study aims to provide real-time feedback on the relevance of ADB assistance during the global economic crisis, responsiveness in terms of how ADB formulated and delivered the support, and results and their sustainability.

ONGOING EVALUATION. This special evaluation study will assess ADB’s strategies and assistance programs for strengthening the enabling environment for private sector development over the last decade to identify lessons for the strategic positioning and design of future ADB support in this area.
