Photos showing some of Asia Pacific’s development challenges win awards in ADB’s “CLICK: Capturing Images of Inclusive Growth” photo contest.
27 May 2012 -- Asian Development Bank (ADB), in partnership with Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST), announce the winners of “Click: Capturing Images of Inclusive Growth” from over 600 entries.

Photos depicting compelling development issues in different countries win awards at Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) photo contest, “CLICK: Capturing Images of Inclusive Growth”. A malnourished child on a weighing scale, fishermen in a drying river, poor children crossing waters to go to school are among the themes of the top ten chosen in each category of professional and amateur photo entries.
In the amateur category, India’s Soni Ramesh and Partha Pratim Saha won the first and second prizes respectively, while Canada’s Michel Lagueux took third place. Winners of the professional category are: Philippines’ Joel Forte (first place), Spain’s Dani Pozo (second place), and Thailand’s Pansiri Pikunkaew (third place).

The winners were chosen from over 600 entries sent from various parts of the globe. Entries can be viewed on Facebook and Pinterest, with the top entries exhibited at the Philippine International Convention Center during the ADB’s 45th Board of Governors’ Annual Meeting between 2 and 5 May 2012. Judges include distinguished photojournalists: Raffy Lerma (Philippine Daily Inquirer) and Rouelle Umali (Xinhua News Agency) together with ADB’s Head of the NGO and Civil Society Center (NGOC) Christopher Morris.
Participants during the ADB Annual Meeting also shared their preferences by casting their votes for a people’s choice award. Entries by Dani Pozo (professional category) and Mukherjee Sandipan (amateur category) topped the people’s choice.

With the theme, “Achieving Inclusive Growth through Partnerships in a World of Seven Billion”, the contest was organized by ADB’s NGO and Civil Society Center in partnership with Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST). Launched in March 2012, the announcement of winners and the exhibit of top entries coincided with ADB’s 45th Annual Board of Governors’ Meeting.
