Sharing Approaches to Behavior Change

1 March 2012 -- Rare, a global conservation nongovernment organization (NGO), discussed approaches proven effective for protecting the environment.

On 28 February 2012 Brett Jenks, Rare Chief Executive Officer, shared with ADB staff some success stories of the "Pride Campaign."

"The campaign inspires people to take pride in the species and habitats that make their communities unique, while also giving them alternatives to environmentally destructive behaviors," said Jenks.

For more than 30 years, Rare has been training local organizations and partnering with national and international organizations to ensure integration of their activities from bottom up. So far, Pride Campaigns have been implemented in more than 50 countries and have reduced threats by humans to the environment providing real conservation solutions in real communities.
