Core Sectors
Under ADB’s Strategy 2020, 80% of ADB lending by 2012 will be in five core areas of operation. These are:
- Infrastructure, including transport and communications, energy, water supply and sanitation, and urban development,
- Environment,
- Regional cooperation and integration,
- Finance sector development, and
- Education.
These areas are tightly linked to ADB's three strategic development agendas of achieving inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration.
ADB will continue to operate in health, agriculture, and disaster and emergency assistance but on a more selective basis.
