Gender and Transport Workshop
Samantha Hung, Senior Social Development Specialist (Gender) of ADB, gave a presentation on how the transport sector would benefit from gender mainstreaming during a two-and-a-half day workshop in Hanoi on Gender and Transport on 24-26 July.
The workshop, jointly organized by ADB (RSGS/SERD) and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), aimed to raise awareness, build capacity and share experiences on mainstreaming gender in transport sector operations in Mekong countries. It emphasized peer and lateral learning through presentations by project staff. Participants included government officials from Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Viet Nam who are directly involved in implementing ADB-financed transport projects; as well as development partner representatives, and ADB and AusAID staff.
