ADB’s Tsunami Assistance to Indonesia - Community Infrastructure: $155.5 million

Breakdown of ADB Assistance – ADB’s assistance includes support for:

Rural Water Supply and Infrastructure:

US$:

10.5 million

Summary:

Support for the rehabilitation of community water supply and sanitation facilities, and the training of local water and sanitation and hygiene staff. Support for the expansion and new development of water supply and sanitation facilities, and community sanitation and hygiene behavior change programs.

Housing:

US$:

72.5 million

Summary:

Support for the construction of houses (approximately 8,500 units) and rehabilitation of houses (approximately 2,500 units), as well as village planning and micro-credit for house expansion.

Of Note: Construction of most homes will be completed by end-2007.

Irrigation:

US$:

72.5 million

Summary:

Support for the repair, rehabilitation and restoration of key irrigation infrastructure/facilities, and the strengthening of water user organizations and coordinating facilities.

Of Note: Construction on 21 irrigation schemes is in progress.
