Regulatory framework
- In 1992, the National Environmental Policy Act was adopted by the government to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental protection. By statute, the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF), Department of Environment (DOE) has the legal authority and responsibilities for air quality management in Bangladesh.
- Leaded gasoline was phased out in 1999.
