Asia-Pacific Water Forum
Priority Themes and Key Result Areas

The Asia-Pacific Water Forum (APWF) is a new network that identifies and adopts solutions to water issues in the region. APWF has identified 3 priority themes and 5 key result areas under each theme.

More About APWF
APPROACH

Three priority themes for APWF have been identified based on water issues and challenges common to the region. Under each theme are 5 categories of required actions, or Key Result Areas (KRAs), that will enable APWF to achieve the desired results per theme.

In the process leading up to the creation of the APWF, various institutions committed to serving as lead organization for the 3 priority themes and 5 KRAs. These lead organizations have committed their resources to the pursuit of the APWF agenda and are now fostering networking among stakeholders.

The APWF’s network structure is open and flexible, with member organizations individually responsible for delivering their respective commitments to APWF. The Forum’s thrust is to add value to the member organization’s ongoing water initiatives in terms of investments, economies of scale, and developing unified approaches to water policies and programs.

PRIORITY THEMES

Achieving progress under each of the priority themes will be the driving force behind APWF’s activities.

Water Financing
Target: Increase targeted investments for water and sanitation infrastructure and for human resources development
Disaster Management
Target: Drastically reduce the vulnerability of human populations to water-related disasters
Water for Development & Ecosystems
Target: Conserve and restore land-water interfaces for the improvement of water productivity
