ADB organizes media workshops to increase the understanding of media representatives towards water issues, and promote greater media coverage and a better standard of writing.

An online resource of water stories, Asia Water Wire features articles from ADB's media network that help fill the water information gap. Visit the website.


ADB MEDIA NETWORK

The participants of these workshops comprise an informal network of journalists who write informed and compelling water stories for a large audience. To date, the ADB media network has around 400 members.

The stories from the journalists are featured in Asia Water Wire, an online resource of news and articles on a diverse range of water issues.

REGIONAL MEDIA WORKSHOP
  • Regional Journalist Workshop on Water Issues in Asia (Bangkok, Thailand; 5-7 February 2006) — organized in partnership with the Inter Press Service (IPS) Asia Pacific and the Secretariat of the 4th World Water Forum. This workshop will gather journalists-turned-water advocates who have participated in the 2003 ADB media workshop in Phnom Penh and in succeeding national workshops in India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, and the People's Republic of China.


  • East Asian Journalists Workshop on Water Policy Issues (Phnom Penh, Cambodia; February 2003) — organized in partnership with the World Bank's Water Media Network. Twenty seven journalists from 9 East Asian countries attended the capacity building workshop. The results included extensive media coverage, fostering of a journalist community, an increase in the quality and quantity of coverage on water issues (more than 50 articles in media coverage on water issues), and the selection of journalists to attend the 3WWF.
